As a Product Manager at Future Platforms, I had the unique opportunity to lead the development of a green-field mobile app for the global sports brand, LIV Golf. This project was a collaboration with LIV Golf, the professional golf tour, and was commissioned to disrupt golf, and build a close relationship between the fans and the players. I was involved right from the start, and over the course of six months, I worked diligently to transform the vision into a tangible product.

Project Overview: LIV Golf, a renowned global sports brand, aimed to revolutionise the sports fan experience by creating a mobile app that would exceed user expectations and engage a broader audience on a global scale. The goal was to introduce disruptive technology that combined sport and entertainment seamlessly, resulting in a continuously improving user experience. The app was designed to incorporate a wide range of features, including Augmented Reality (AR), Data Visualisation, Live Streaming, Chat functionality, Loyalty programs, Ticketing services, and more.

Key Responsibilities and Achievements:

  1. Product Strategy: I formulated a comprehensive product strategy that aligned with LIV Golf’s vision. This involved conducting extensive market research, understanding user needs, and identifying opportunities for innovation.
  2. Feature Definition: I led a cross-functional team of 16, including designers, developers – and collaborated closely with key stakeholders and customers to define the core features of the app. We prioritised features that would enhance user engagement and drive adoption.
    1. Live Streaming & Leaderboards: I facilitated the implementation of live streaming capabilities and live player leaderboards, enabling fans to engage with the sport and fellow enthusiasts in a dynamic way.
    2. Loyalty and Tickets: I led the development of loyalty programs to reward dedicated users and integrated ticketing services to enhance the overall fan experience.
  3. Product Management: I oversaw the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring that milestones were met, and the project stayed on track. This involved agile project management methodologies to adapt to evolving requirements.
  4. User-Centric Design: I championed a user-centric design approach, conducting user testing and feedback sessions to iteratively refine the app’s interface and functionality. This ensured that the app met the evolving expectations of sports fans.
  5. Continuous Improvement: I established a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring app performance, collecting user feedback, and rapidly iterating to enhance features and functionality.
  6. Technology Integration: I managed the integration of cutting-edge technologies, such as the Emarsys Omnichannel Customer Engagement Platform, to deliver a truly immersive and data-rich experience for users.

Results Achieved:

  • Successfully launched the LIV Golf mobile app within the designated six-month timeframe.
  • The app received positive reviews from early adopters and garnered attention from new users, expanding the LIV Golf fanbase.
  • Achieved a significant increase in user engagement, with users spending more time on the app and participating in loyalty programs.
  • Established a solid foundation for ongoing updates and enhancements to maintain the app’s competitive edge.

My six-month tenure as a Product Manager on the LIV Golf app project was marked by a commitment to innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence in user experience. I am proud to have played a pivotal role in launching a disruptive product that not only met but exceeded the expectations of sports fans, providing a platform that reimagines the way users engage with the sport of golf.
